From Karin:
Fortunately, for Davis, the Easter bunny found his way to Hawaii. After much deliberation about how this was possible, Davis just accepted the fact that he must be able to swim or have connections at Hawaiian Airlines. Donned in our Easter best (which...so cool...still involved flip-flops), we headed out to La Provence for Easter breakfast. This is a small French cafe and patisserie in Kula, a small town upcountry. While they were drastically understaffed for Easter Sunday, we reminded ourselves that we really had nowhere else to be, waited the necessary 30 minutes to order our coffee and mango-berry scone and dealt with it. Tough, I know. Fresh pastries and 3 cups of coffee, followed by eggs benedict for me, quiche for Peter and a jam filed crepe for Davis, left us feeling satisfied and a bit over caffeinated. We headed home via the Pukalani Country Club which Peter wanted to find since he'll be playing golf there in the near future.
When we got home, Davis had an egg hunt in our yard. He was a bit surprised that the eggs weren't already hidden, but we convinced him that Peter had promised to be the Easter bunny's helper since he was VERY busy and Daddy really was not. I am pretty sure that the Easter bunny does not hide eggs the way Peter does, as Peter's MO was for it to take as long as possible. So there was a green egg hiding in the depths of our lime tree, an orange egg nestled in an orange African Tulip blossom and a swimming-pool-blue one hidden in the...you guessed it...swimming pool. Poor kid needed some serious guidance to find all 24 eggs. Once he found them all, we then had a marathon Skpye session with the Roethke clan in Nantucket to celebrate Easter with them. It's really amazing how this tool is helping us stay in touch. We got to "meet" Tyler's new hampster, Chewie, we gave my brother a tour of our house and they all got see Carter roll over in real time. Pretty amazing to be so far away and still feel so close to home. This was followed by more Easter Skyping with Grandma in Savannah, a long walk with our new double jogging stroller (yeah Craigslist!) and a yummy Easter dinner. A great day filled with Easter traditions from home with some special Hawaiian twists.

We were really happy that the Easter bunny (and the USPS) knew where to find us.

This one was tricky. BTW...check out the size of that lime. You have no idea what this thing can do to a gin and tonic. Heaven!!

Challenging.....

Poor kid, he didn't have a chance with this one.

FINALLY....a pink one against a green, tropical background!

the blue egg against the blue pool was nasty, but a worthy camera shot!
