Risky Buisness

From Peter:
Every great opportunity comes with its own set of challenges, difficulties and risks; here are a few we've taken on.

Risk #1, Taking it for granted.
This place is amazing and there is the risk of not appreciating it each and every day - the spectacular views are commonplace and the new experiences are frequent.  So far, we haven't had the need to remind each other to enjoy it all and I don't think we will.  Each day, each sight, each event is a gift and we are reminded of that on a regular basis - it is hard to take this for granted:
The view from our lanai
Our picnic spot near Ho'okipa

Daily light show just after sunset.
Moonlit landscape taken at 11:30 PM under a full moon.
Breaching whale - I took this picture from our lanai!
Risk #2, Shampoo in your eyes.
This is an understood risk during any shower but it takes on new meaning in the outdoor shower when you have to close you eyes and you loose track of the lizard that has been checking you out.
He was there one minute...
Risk #3, Where is my kid?
Davis is not overly adventurous but he certainly likes to have a good time so we need to keep an eye on him at the water's edge.  This can be complicated by the frequent distractions at the beach.
A kite surfer just offshore.
I think Davis was safe while I filmed this...
I mean, how much trouble could he get into?
Risk #4, Missing you all.
It is great to be here but we do miss you.  We said Aloha to my parents on Sunday, thanks for the great visit!

PS I read "The Wave" by Susan Casey.  It was terrific and much of it was set here on the north shore - if anyone has any reading suggestions, pass them along.
